The Vancouver Justice Access Centre (VJAC) is now open to provide civil justice services to the public. Services include:
- self-help and information services;
- dispute resolution and mediation options;
- legal advice services;
- community resources and agencies; and
- courses.
Information and resources related to civil law issues include issues such as:
- income security
- housing (rental and owned)
- employment
- debt or money
- immigration and refugee
- human rights
- consumer issues
The team at the Vancouver Justice Access Centre is ready to help the public with family
and civil justice issues, including learning about and choosing dispute resolution options. The assessment and referral program at the Vancouver Justice Access Centre is unique. The staff work closely with public participants to consider their needs and discuss their options. With access to a wide network of support services, including legal services, the VJAC staff know how to connect consumers with the right kind of help, whether it’s at the centre or in the community.
A VJAC Mediator Roster has been established to provide mediation resources to persons seeking to resolve their disputes through mediation.
The centre does not deal with criminal matters, small claims court forms and filings or corporate or commercial matters. They also do not deal with legal disputes such as personal injury, traffic tickets, defamation and medical malpractice.
More information on the new VJAC and the Self-Help Information Services is available on the Ministry of the Attorney General website:
